Some major changes were made to my mobile setup. I replaced all of my old NMO mounts with new NMO's by Antennex. This time all of the coax was tied together and ran down the right-side trim along the windshield. I was able to route the coax down through the stereo speaker compartment, behind the glove box and down to the floor where it was run under the carpet and out of a slit cut in the carpet on the hump.
In the process of changing out the old NMO assemblies and adding in the HF rig, I decided to change some of the antennas and add some. A 800 MHz NMO "spike" was added to the left side of the hood using a fender bracket. This is used for scanning 800/900 MHz trunking systems. The rear roof NMO was replaced with a UHF "spike" for the Motorola Maxtrac. I added an additional stud mount to the left side of my rear bumper. There are now two stud mounts on my bumper: one holds a 20M hamstick the other, a 40M hamstick. The two outer roof NMOs now have 5/8 wave 2M antennas. One is for APRS the other is used for 6M.
I of course kept the HamHUD on the dash, only place for it. I did change the GPS. I got sick of seeing my good Garmin get beat up by the sun when it was laying in the dash. So, I went to Delorme and bought a refurbished Tripmate. You can see this on my GPS page. The Tripmate is now velcroed to the dash right up against the windshield. Since it does'nt have an LCD or anything fragile like that, it can sit in the sun or cold over night and not be affected and it can always be on and running.
